As the sound draws closer you considered the second option and try to hide. The trees in this part of the forest are spaced further apart and there isn't much undergrowth to hide in. As you franticly search for a place to hide there seems to be only two places that could conceal you. One is a large hallowed out tree trunk and the other appears to be a large crack in ground, perhaps a cave opening.
